SUMMARY:1968 Time Capsule Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:250th Celebration! The 1968 Time Capsule will be unveiled! \nThis year Meredith celebrates its 250th anniversary! Back in 1968\, during the 200th anniversary\, a committee buried a time capsule to be opened in 2018 in the library lawn. Its time has come!! We will be opening it at 2PM at the Chase House on July 4. The Common Man is donating an ice cream social to the first 100 people to arrive and Carl Johnson\, Jr. will be emceeing the event! We will have a slideshow with photos from 1968and a presentation on the Meredith happenings from that year. SUMMARY:Meredith Oral History Project Kickoff
DESCRIPTION:The Meredith Public Library will be kicking off our community-wide oral history project on Friday\, June 1st at 5:30 PM at the Meredith Historical Society. The opening day will be a story circle of community members who were at the two-hundred year anniversary celebration in 1968. We are looking for people who attended the 1968 festivities and would like their memories recorded for posterity. If you or someone you know is interested in attending\, please contact the Meredith Public Library\, either by calling 603-279-4303\, or emailing matthew@meredithlibrary.org \nThe Oral History Project is part of Meredith’s 250th Anniversary Celebration and one of the outcomes will be to have an audio collection that can be included in the time capsule that will be resealed next July for the three hundredth anniversary in 2068.
